Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2026-06-05T04:23Z ( ACE: MAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
ACE: MAG
ACE: SWEPAM
Activity ID: 2026-06-05T04:23:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized by an initial B_total spike from 7.8nT to 15.97nT, reaching a peak B_total of 18.8nT at 2026-06-05T05:24Z. B_z was largely northward early in this signature, turning southward after 2026-06-05T10:07Z with a peak at -13.4nT at 2026-06-05T11:36Z. An initial increase in solar wind speed from ~400 km/s to ~550 km/s at the shock, decreasing down to ~450 km/s, and rising back up to ~570 km/s starting ~2026-06-05T10:00Z. An increase in density and temperature is observed with the initial shock, variable density but largely decreasing after. Temperature data rises quickly after ~2026-06-05T10:00Z in line with the second speed increase. Starting at 2026-06-05T12:06Z, the magnetic field components and solar wind speed reconfigure and are likely indicative of a second CME arrival within the overall arrival signature, separated into its own subsequent DONKI entry. This first part of the arrival signature is associated with the arrival of CME: 2026-06-03T01:53Z, and the second piece beginning at 2026-06-05T12:06Z is associated with the arrival of CME: 2026-06-03T11:48Z.
